The Carolina Classic Derby, run concurrently with the Atlantic Breeders Incentive Derby, held May 10-13 at the Bob Martin Ag Center, Williamston, N.C., offered reiners the chance to run for a total of $84,000 in added money. Mike McEntire took advantage of that opportunity, scored a 151.5 on David Evans’ Red Strip Spook (Smart Spook x Ms Red Capri x Jacs Aledo Bar) and won the Level 4 Open divisions of both derbies. Rancho Oso Rio, Scottsdale, Ariz., owned by Pat and Jim Warren, Woodside, Calif., is now the association’s fifth Million Dollar Owner.
