In November, dozens of malnourished horse were removed from a ranch owned by Judy Caton, a reiner from Washington state. On Nov. 14, Caton resigned her positions of president of the Washington Reining Horse Association and as an elected member on the board of directors for the National Reining Horse Association.

dale_wilkinsonNRHA President Rick Weaver, Fairview, Penna., confirmed that Dale Wilkinson, 84, passed away this morning at Doctors Hospital in Augusta, Ga.  On March 4 he underwent surgery to repair a shattered hip suffered at home on Feb. 22.

“It’s been a rough time for Dale and his family this past few weeks,” Weaver said. “It was time for Dale to go. It’s time for us to celebrate the time we had with him and be happy we knew him and got to spend time with him. Certainly this is a huge loss to all of us. Dale has affected so many lives – and not just with their involvement with horses.”

Tom Stewart, 64, his wife Madena and 5-year-old daughter, Sydney, died in a horrendous helicopter crash over Cave Creek, Ariz., on February 14, 2010. Stewart was chairman and CEO of Services Group of America which is the parent company of a number of successful businesses including Food Services of America, Systems Service of America, Amerifresh, Ameristar Meats and Development Services of America.
