Spooks Pearl (Smart Spook x Solanos Pearl x Mr Solano Rey), ridden by Corey Hendrickson for Sparrow Hawk Farms, Barrington Hills, Ill., was the Reserve Champion in both Derbies with a score of 226. But they went to the head of the class in the $8,000-added and $7,243-added Level 3 Intermediate Open divisions in each Derby. They earned a total of $14,477 for their ride!

Lee Snyder’s Eyed Be A Royal Chic (Smart Chic Olena x Eyed Be A Princess x Eyed Be Impressive), ridden by Sam Smith, scored a 223 for the Level 3 Reserve Championships in both Derbies, earning a total of $3,637.

SLJ Im Stubbornjuice (Smart Like Juice x Wind Her Up Shiner x Shining Spark), ridden by Albert Burton for Smart Like Juice Inc., Markham, Ill., scored a 221 to capture the Level 2 Limited Open $3,000-added Wimpys Little Step and $2,414-added Gordville Breeders Cup Derbies. They earned $2,248.

Dels Dandy Rooster (Gallo Del Cielo x A Dandy Little Star x A Dandy Star) owned by Robert Hedger, Columbus, Ind., and Wimpys Showboat (Wimpys Little Step x Ms Hollywood Showtime x Docs Showtime), owned by Charlie Vaughan, Lafayette, Ind.,  scored a 219 to be Co-Reserve Champions in both Level 2 divisions. Shannon Fowler rode both horses and earned a total of $2,890.

The $1,000-added and $966-added Level 1 divisions of both Derbies were won by Shining Juice (Smart Like Juice x Wind Her Up Shiner x Shining Spark), ridden by Antonio Bacerra for Smart Like Juice Inc. They earned a total of $992.

There was a tie for second place in both Level 1 divisions between Mi Amigo Whiz (Inwhizable x Mi Mega x Marthas Mega Jac), ridden by Rebeccas Adkins for Clark Reining Horses, Catlettsburg, Ky., and KR Offtoseethewizard (Whizard Jac x Smart Little Prize x Smart And Trouble), owned and showed by Lee Mancini, Howell, Mich. Both horses earned $627.

Vazquez Wins Twice on SLJ Ruf Juice

Jose Vazquez rode SLJ Ruf Juice (Smart Like Juice x Ruf Catalyst x Lil Ruf Peppy) to first place in the $15,000-added Wimpys Little Step Derby and the $12,071-added Gordyville Breeders Cup Non-Pro divisions with a score of 222. The horse is owned by Smart Like Juice Inc., and earned a total of $11,335.

Vazquez and SLJ Ruf Juice also scored wins in the Prime Time divisions of both Derbies. Andre De Bellefeuille, riding Smart Step N Chic (Wimpys Little Step x Homecoming Chic x Smart Chic Olena) was second in the Gordyville Breeders Cup Prime Time.

Mike Garnett rode Joanne Garnett’s Kid Dunit This Time (The Great Kid x My Sunny Dun It x Hollywood Dun It) to tie for second place in the Wimpys Little Step Derby with Kelle Smith riding Whiz N Nicki (Bueno Chexinic x Whiz Me Gold x Topsail Whiz). Smith and Whiz Ni Nicki, by virtue of Bueno Chexinic’s enrollment in the Gordyville Breeders Classic incentive program, was second in that Derby.

Garnett also won the $8,000-added Wimpys Little Step Derby Intermediate Non-Pro division and finished second in the Prime Time division. Victori Lambert and Good Time Whiz Girl (Topsail Whiz x Good Time Show Girl x Hollywood Dun It), owned by Carl Lambert, were second in that Derby with a score of 219.5. However they won the $7,243-added Gordyville Breeders Classic Level 3 Non-Pro.

Chloe Lawrence riding George Lawrence’s Starlights Suagarwhiz (Little Bay Starlight x Lil Sugar Whiz x Topsail Whiz) scored a 219 to place third in the Wimpys Little Step Level 3 Intermediate Non-Pro and second in the Gordyville Breeders Classic division. They won the Level 2 Limited Non-Pro and Level 1 Non-Pro divisions of both Derbies.
