Boons Milliennium Two stallions of note by the great cutting horse sire Peptoboonsmal — Boons Milliennium and Yellow Roan Of Texas — have new owners.
Boons Milliennium (Peptoboonsmal x Millie Montana x Montana Doc) is the latest stallion that Blake Mayes, Eagle, Ore., purchased from Johnny Walker, Pinson, Ala.
“Blake’s probably bought a dozen horses from me, including Smart Little Rondee, Acres Of Red, and Shes My Darling,” Walker said. “He’s been wanting Boons Milliennium for several years, and I just thought it might be better for the horse to go to Idaho. Blake made the proverbial offer I couldn’t refuse.”
While the sale price was not disclosed, “it was a lot of money,” according to Walker, who owns such outstanding stallions as Haidas Little Pep. The 1980 chestnut son of Peppy San Badger by Doc’s Haida by Doc Bar has $425,174 in lifetime earnings and offspring who have won more than $9.3 million. Boons Milliennium will stand at Mayes’ Quail Ridge Ranch in Eagle, Idaho. The 1998 red roan stallion was bred by Silver Spur Ranch, Litchfield Park, Ariz. Faron Hightower rode him to the Open finals of the 2002 Augusta Futurity and the 2002 NCHA Super Stakes. He has lifetime earnings of $19,530. Boons Milliennium has three performing offspring — WSR Millenium Mist, Montana Cash Boon, and Chics Millennium — who have combined earnings of $3,486, according to Equi-Stat.
Yellow Roan Of Texas Susan Marchant’s SDM Quarter Horses, Goondiwindi, Queensland, Australia, has purchased half interest of Yellow Roan Of Texas, another Peptoboonsmal son. The 1997 palomino out of Doc’s Steady Date by Doc Bar, who has more than $73,000 in lifetime earnings, will continue to stand at Oasis Ranch Inc., Herald, Calif. Although the price was not disclosed, Pete Bowling, who owns Oasis Ranch with his wife, Marilyn, said the price makes the stallion one of the top five high sellers in the cutting horse industry. Currently, the stallion has 23 performing get with combined earnings of $141,569. After his offspring competed for the first time in 2007, Yellow Roan Of Texas made Equi-Stat’s top 100 list of leading sires. His show-pen prowess includes a tie for fourth in the 2000 NCHA Futurity Non-Pro where he also placed ninth in the Amateur with owner/rider Dustin Adams, Dublin, Texas, on board. Yellow Roan Of Texas was bred by Tom and Sue Ryan, Weatherford, Texas. He will be bred to Australian mares via shipped semen delivered to the Oakey Veterinarian Hospital, Oakey, Queensland. |
